The annual pilgrimage to the Milan Design Week for all interior design professionals is just around the corner. The pivotal event during the week is Salone Del Mobile 2024 (Milan, Italy, April 16-21), a highly regarded tradeshow highlighting the best of the European design world, covering furniture, lighting, textiles, and decorations. This year is the 62nd edition of the show — so, with experience, we can confidently say that not everything the expected 2000 vendors plan to show in Milan will define a trend. What we can say, however, is that we will get a sense of where interior design might go in the near future.
Like in prior years, the 2024 show will be dominated by Italian furniture powerhouses such as Boffi|DePadova, Molteni & C., Flexform, Kartell, Minotti, Poliform, or Calligaris.
We saw a ton of outstanding new furniture collections last year, but also some new developments in the area of modern home interior doors. Last year Barausse showed Metalsphere, a new metal and wood collection for wall cladding and partition systems; HenryGlass, a storied Italian glass door production company, showcased their fabric-laminated glass and glass with textures for swing doors and partition walls; Dooor Srl, an Italian manufacturer of fashionable folding doors, talked about its new fabric made with recycled polyester yarn; and Lualdi, a venerable Italian door manufacturer, showed some of its new material experiments.
In 2024 we can also expect the return of amazing architectural hardware manufacturers or door levers, recessed door pulls, door stops, and locks such as Olivari B., Dnd Martinelli, and Atelier Landon.
Meanwhile, the organizing team of Salone del Mobile.Milano is in the United States visiting Miami, Dallas (January 23, 2024), New York (January 25), Las Vegas (February 20) and Chicago (February 22). So, in three months, see you at Salone del Mobile 2024!
